Do long distance relationships ever work?

I love this boy and i know he loves me but just recently coz of the distance, he's wnt and got himself a girlfriend, i know for a fact if we lived in the same country, we;d be 2gera without a doubt, how can i convince him, that we're perfect together and that the distance really is nothing. just makes the time we spend together more special ehhh? or am i livin in a dream world and hes done the right thing?
