Why do people INSIST that the NAZIS were socialist ?

There is confusion on that matter, but for good reason. Hitler, (a fascist), gauged his chances of rising to power better by hi-jacking the socialist party in Germany at the time. He ociated himself with them, but never was one. In fact, he denounced socialism multiple times before and during his "reign."
